Please note that there is more to gaining a patent than just filing an application and waiting. It is possible that this is all you will have to do, but unlikely. Once a patent application is sent in to the Patent and Trademark Office (PTO), it will be assigned to a patent examiner. The examiner will determine whether your invention really is patentable based on the criteria set up by the PTO.

If the examiner does not believe your invention is patentable based on these criteria, he or she will reject it and send you an Office Action. This action explains to you that your invention was rejected and it describes exactly why.

You may receive up to 3 Office Actions before your application will be … well… to put it bluntly “thrown out”. Your patent attorney will likely have a fee schedule set-up for how to charge you for these Office Actions.

Therefore, you will likely be charged a fee for the attorney to write and file your patent application and you will need to pay for its prosecution. Depending on how many Office Actions you receive and the complexity of the prosecution, things can get fairly expensive. Now, it is always possible your invention will be allowed to patent – obviously, the sooner this happens, the less expensive it will be for you.

Here’s just a summary of the expenses associated with paying your patent pracitioner (these may of course vary all across the board and there can be additional charges)…

Patent search — $1,000

Patent application – typically $2,500 up to $6000+ (there is also a filing fee that must be paid to the USPTO)

Fees for prosecution — $1,000 and up ($10,000+) depending on what happens during prosecution

If your invention is allowed to patent, you will need to pay an issue fee and maintenance fees on your patent to keep it in good standing with the PTO. These fees are at the discretion of the Patent Office so you will have to check on the current costs.

Author: booksbyrobert

If you opt to become a police officer, a fire department person, or work with explosives, you probably expect that stress in some form will come with the job. However, in other types of jobs stress can come from many sources.

1. Overload. With too much work and too little time, stress is inevitable. This may be either a permanent or temporary situation. If temporary, you can probably cope with it. If permanent, tell your supervisor it is too much. If that doesn’t bring results, consider looking for another job, as stress builds with repetition.

2. Noise. Few jobs are located next to a junk yard or a sound stage where bands with strange-sounding names are rehearsing. If you are unlucky enough to work in such a deafening environment, stress can be unbearable.

3. A messy environment. If you were raised in a normal environment but your workplace reminds you of the city dump, it can be stressful. The toilet is plugged up, the broken window hasn’t been replaced and you have to avoid puddles wherever you walk.

4. Obsolete equipment. Some small companies have been doing the same job the same way forever. They are resistant to change or modernizing. The secretary is still using a typewriter instead of a word processor. The carpenter is denied even an electric screw driver. This makes the job longer and harder, which causes frustration, which causes stress.

5. Cranky boss. One of the most common sources of job stress is a mean boss. He or she belittles the employees under them, ignores their complaints and has no compassion for their problems or their well being. This type ofjob stress can range from indifference to harassment.

6. Obnoxious co-worker. The obnoxious co-worker is usually loud, with a raucous sense of humor. He or she sees humor in ordinary situations and laughs inappropriately.

Another type of co-worker who causes stress is the one who takes credit for your successes and blames you for their mistakes.

Unfortunately, most of these sources of job stress are not apparent before you are hired, but come with the job. They usually catch you by surprise and turn what you thought would be a great job into a nightmare.

Author: Chriss Tyrrell

One of the major shortfalls of home energy saving devices of the past was that for the most part, they simply weren’t cost effective. Sure the technology was amazing and very heartening to see it come up, but face the facts. In the end, it was always cheaper to just keep on wasting the electricity. Seriously! Who would spend $100 to save $20? It was, to say the least, a very tough sell.

There Was Always the Convenience Issue

At the same time convenience was always an issue. You see, as much as people wanted and in some cases were even willing to pay for these earlier energy saving products for the home, they tended to be bulky and not very easy to apply. What was need were “simple to use” compact solid state devices that could be simply plugged in and used just like an alarm clock.

TV Standby Time Is Like Throwing Away Money While You Sleep

So now check out new affordable compact power saving devices like the new PowerSaver TV standby saver. “Say what!?” “So what on earth does it do to save me money?” OK! Get ready because this happens to be one of the most common sense home energy savers out there. What it does is completely eliminate TV power standby time.

This One Pays For Its self Very Quickly – Then the Rest Is Pure Savings

You see, when your TV is turned off, it is still drawing power to remain active for when the clicker is used to turn it on. Up to 70% of normal operating power is used while your TV is “turned off”! This device plugs into the power outlet and then the TV is plugged into it, completely shutting off all power to your TV. Simply press the on button for the TV on your remote and power is resumed to your TV and it comes on just like normal.

Finally Cheap Replaceable Energy Saving “Curly” Bulbs

Another clever innovation involves those energy saving “screw in light bulbs” with the “curly tubes” that replace normal energy gulping bulbs. They are a fantastic bulb but if you’ve gone and checked them out at the home supply store, they can be a little pricey. You see, its the complex electrical hardware contained in their base that keeps their cost up. The “curly bulbs” are in fact cheap to manufacture.

Who’s the Genius That Thought Of That?!

Some solutions are just too easy and its scary that it took so long for someone to figure them out. You see, now you can buy these energy scrimping bulbs as a two part system. This means that while you do pay for the expensive base as with other bulbs of this type, there is one big difference. That is when the bulb burns out, you simply unplug the “curly bulb section” and plug a new replacement back on the base. You use the base over and over again!

No More Wondering About Appliance Energy Consumption

The third device is one that you will wonder how you have been getting along with one all these years without. Its a small compact energy monitor with an easy to read screen. Simply plug it into the wall socket, then plug “whatever” into it and with a quick glance you can see how much electricity the device is using. Hey! Its great for room-mate situations to settle any questions about energy consumption.

Severe pain may develop several days after a tooth has been extracted if a blood clot that forms in the socket becomes dislodged. The condition, commonly called dry socket, can involve infection of the alveolar bone that normally surrounds root of the tooth; loss of the clot can expose the bone tissue to the environment organisms that produce an inflammation of the bone tissue. Dry socket may be treated by irrigating the socket with warm salt water and packing it with strips of medicated gauze. The patient also is given analgesics, sedatives and other medications as needed to control the pain and gum infection. General anesthetics are sometime necessary for complicated periodontal surgery. In such cases, there are available dental offices or clinics that are well equipped and staffed as hospital operating rooms.

Tooth extraction because of caries is less common today than in previous years, although an estimated 25 million Americans have had all of their teeth removed. Modern preventive dentistry techniques now make it possible to save many teeth that would have been extracted in the past decades after the spread of decay into the pulp canal, or have been damaged by periodontal disease.

The inflammation of the gums known as gingivitis, or the early stage of gum disease, can spread to the roots of the teeth if not treated, forming pockets that fill up with more food debris and colonies of bacteria. As the disease progresses, the bone support for the teeth begin to loosen and drift from the normal position.

Receding gums can occur. Finally, unless the disease is treated in time, teeth may be lost. Periodontal gum disease is sometimes called pyorrhea, a Greek word meaning a discharge of puss, is somewhat misleading term, because it identifies only one manifestation of the disease, an abscess that usually forms along the side of an affected tooth. In some cases, a membrane forms around the abscess, creating a pus-filled cyst in tooth socket.

Gum disease symptoms may warn you with bad breath, swollen and bleeding gums and can permit disease-causing bacteria to travel through the bloodstream and cause health problems to develop. Seeking the intervention of a dental professional is required to save severely damaged teeth and gums and to restore periodontal health.
